Steve has been the Managing Director of FCPL since January 2002. Prior to his appointment as Managing Director, he was General Manager of Fidelity Discount House Limited (now Fidelity Bank Limited) where he was responsible for the corporate finance and lending portfolios of the company. Having joined the Fidelity Group in November 1998, he established the Company’s lending and corporate finance operations. He led the Group’s corporate finance efforts to compete for, win and execute key mandates against long established corporate finance practices. These include privatisation of Coca-Cola, Pepsi Cola and other State-Owned Enterprises.
Stephen started his banking career in 1990 with National Investment Bank (NIB), a local development bank in Ghana. At NIB, he was a banking officer and was involved in banking operations, treasury, risk and credit management. Between 1995 and 1998 he worked with Ecobank Ghana Ltd., the Ghanaian affiliate of the West African regional banking group as credit officer and subsequently a senior corporate finance officer. In this role he executed several corporate finance mandates including sale of government shares in the local telecom company, the largest local commercial bank IPO and several syndicated loan arrangements for a large number of reputable local and multinational institutions. He has participated and led several missions to undertake due diligence reviews, valuations and evaluation of several banks and financial institutions in Ghana, Cote d’Iviore, Zambia, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
As Managing Director of FCPL he has successfully built a strong team of PE professionals, led re-organization and restructuring efforts that has seen FCPL become more independent, dynamic and professional. Under his stewardship FCPL has successfully raised additional funds and has significantly increased funds under its management.
He is responsible for key negotiations with project sponsors, investee companies and represents the funds under the company’s management on several boards of directors.
Stephen holds a Master of Arts degree in banking and finance from the University of Wales, U.K and a Bachelors degree in Economics from the University of Ghana.
Elsie has over thirteen years experience in investment banking and private equity fund management. She has been with the team since November 2004. As General Manager of FCPL she plays a key role in the day-to-day management as well as the fund raising activities of the company. She also works as an Investment Manager.
During the past three years she had appraised, negotiated, structured and closed private equity transactions in food processing, education, and hospitality sectors. She has had experience in monitoring portfolio companies, and is currently responsible for monitoring portfolio companies in the ICT, food processing and hospitality sectors. She also represents the company on a number of boards representing the funds' interest in investee companies.
Prior to joining FCPL, Elsie worked in private sector development, and in various capacities in investment banking, including corporate advisory, strategic planning, treasury management and stock brokerage. Elsie holds an MBA in International Banking and Finance from the University of Birmingham in the UK, a Bachelor of Commerce degree and Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.
As the finance manager, Daniel is responsible for the financial administration and management of the company. He is also responsible for all the back-office operations, investor reporting and portfolio valuation of FCPL's PE business. He has been a member of the FCPL team since October 2006.
He also provides support to the investment team in financial due diligence reviews and appraisal and investee companies financial reporting. Daniel also assists in identifying weaknesses and recommending solutions to investee companies’ accounting systems, financial management and controls.
Daniel began his career in 1996 as a Trainee Accountant with Deloitte & Touche. As a Trainee Accountant, he was a member of various teams that audited many private and public institutions and companies in Ghana.
Prior to joining FCPL, he was the Chief Accountant of First Atlantic Merchant Bank Limited , a local merchant bank, after having worked in the treasury and internal audit departments of the bank. He was also a member of the Asset & Liability Management Committee of the bank.
Daniel is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana) and an Authorized Dealing Officer (ADO) of the Ghana Stock Exchange. He also holds an Executive MBA (Finance) from University of Ghana and a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast.
Chris has been a member of the FCPL team since July 2005. As an investment manager, he has responsibility for deal origination, structuring and closing. He is also responsible for monitoring and management of investee companies as well as reporting.
In addition to his role in PE, Chris is responsible for the corporate finance activities of FCPL. Prior to joining FCPL, Chris worked for 8 years with Sterling Securities , a local investment banking firm, as a Research Analyst and later as Corporate Finance Manager.
He is a member of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) and a student member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (Ghana). He also holds a BSc (Admin) in banking & finance from the University of Ghana Business School.
Ms. Asiedua joined FCPL as an Investment Manager in May 2009. She is responsible for deal origination, execution, due diligence and monitoring of investee companies.
Prior to joining FCPL, Asiedua was a Senior Investment Accountant at American Capital Ltd, USA. She began her career as an auditor with Ernst & Young, LLP in VA, USA, and led engagements on private equities clients and other clients in the financial services sector. Asiedua holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, from Clarkson University, NY and is a CPA.
Zubeiru joined the FCPL team in August 2008. As an investment Officer, he has responsibility for deal origination, structuring and closing. He is also responsible for monitor and reporting. Prior to joining FCPL, he worked as an Investment Analyst at the Equities Investment Department of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), a state pension fund in Ghana, where he handled a portfolio of SSNIT’s investee companies in the financial services sector. He also provided additional support to the Portfolio Manager in the management of SSNIT’s investments in Private Equity Funds.
Zubeiru holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Business Administration (Finance) and a BSc. degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Ghana Business School, Legon. He is currently studying for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification.
Philip joined FCPL in March 2008. He has about four years experience in taxation and banking. His previous experience includes the Value Added Tax Service (VAT) as an Assistant Revenue Officer and banking operations department with Guaranty Trust Bank in Ghana Ghana Limited where he was the Head of Operations (Tema branch) responsible for transaction processing and reporting.
At FCPL Philip is responsible for back office operations and assists Investment Managers in financial analysis, investment analysis, due diligence and reporting.
He has a bachelor of commerce degree from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana and is currently studying for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) examinations at Level III.
Christabel joined FCPL in November 2004. She is responsible for office administration and management.
Before joining the team, Christabel worked as a private secretary at the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning, Accra (1997 - 2000) and later as an Administrative Assistant (2003 - 2004).
She holds a Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) from the University of Cape Coast (2003).
Naa Aku joined Fidelity in November 2004 as Office/Administrative Assistant. Prior to her employment at FCPL she worked as a trainee at Marine & General Insurance Brokers (1998 - 1999) and also as an Administrative Assistant at Metropolitan Insurance Company (2000 - 2004), a leading insurance company in Ghana.
As an Investment Relations Officer, she provides administrative and back office support to the investment team and assists them in investee company monitoring and reporting.
She holds a Diploma in Business Studies from The Accra Polytechnic (2001) and a BSc (Human Resource) degree from the Central University (2007).
